Latin & Salsa Dance

Latin Dance: Technique, Style & Musicality (Intermediate/Advanced Level)
Mondays, 12:10PM-1:10pm

This class explores the depth and versatility of Latin dance traditions, including salsa, son, cha cha cha, and Afro-Cuban dance, including rumba.

Building on foundational training, we continue developing technique while expanding musical awareness, coordination, and expressive range across different rhythms and styles. Dancers are encouraged to work at their own level while being challenged to grow in precision, clarity, and musical understanding.

In this class, we focus on:

Balance, control, and body articulation
Footwork, turns, and combinations with increasing complexity
Spatial awareness and movement clarity
Stylistic differences between Latin dance forms
Musical interpretation and rhythmic nuance
Cultural understanding that supports authentic expression, presence, and “flavor”

This class is well-suited for dancers with some prior experience who are ready to deepen their practice, as well as intermediate and advanced students seeking to refine technique, expand versatility, and strengthen their connection to the music and cultural roots of Latin dance.
